You might have heard of sand paintings from the Buddhist tradition where a mandala is created with coloured sand and then ritualistically dismantled once it is completed.
However, there is also a different kind of sand painting that can be found in Arab counties.
Using a light box as a canvas, the artist uses his or her fingers together with sand flowing from a loosely clenched fist to create images. Often performed with music in the background, as one image changes into the next image just like sand dunes shift in the desert.
