Think of the root k – t – b .

As you know, this conveys the idea of writing. Among the words belonging to this root was the word maktab, in English ‘office’ or ‘desk’.

Another root that you have come across is j – l – s

This root conveys the idea of sitting. A word that contains this root is majlis, in English ‘the room where you sit and receive guests,’

And here is a third example of a root T – aa – r.

This root conveys the idea of flying.

A word that you will perhaps remember is maTaar, in English ‘airport’.
